QT tank, dose or observe only?

Figure this is the right forum for QT talk. I have a 10g QT set up for use with my 32g cube.

About to throw two clowns in it. Should I dose the tank with Copper Aid or similar regardless of them showing symptoms OR observe and dose if symptoms appear?

I think that's a decision that only you can answer. I expect many will say proactively medicate all fish. I observe only for a minimum of 30 days often longer if training a fish to eat what I feed. I increase my chances of success by being very selective when I buy fish. I only buy fish I can observe and I never buy fish kept in low level salinty and or low level copper.
Some people do hypo salinty instead of medicating.
I recommend you head over to the disease forum and read through some of the stickies there and see what if any methods sounds best for you.
Even tho I don't medicate I won't recommended people not do it just because I don't. I've introduced velvet before by introducing a fish kept in salinty of 1.015 so I'm aware of the risks.

PS I hate seeing fish in bare tanks with PVC fittings. That's my problem not necessarily a problem for fish. I feel they can be stressful and I think stress can weaken a fishes immune system. This is just speculation on my part, nothing I can prove.

I’m in the observation first camp. Think about it… copper is toxic, which is how it kills parasites. Would you recommend a human get treated with chemo proactively? No, because the damage done would likely not be worth it. Treating with toxins is an extreme measure for an extreme circumstance.

Completely understand but “less” harmful is still harmful and stressful. If I saw signs of problems I’d treat what I saw because there are different treatments for different things.

Feel like if read and watched so much and, like motor oil, everyone thinks their way/brand is the best.

Guess I’ll just pick a reef god and decide to follow them haha.

I’m not as brave as Paul. I do observation before I “throw them in”. But in principle I agree with all of what he says :)

Observation wastes valuable time for treatment allowing any given disease to take hold of a fish and recommend quarantine with coppersafe for 30 days at 2.25ppm then water change and then prazi pro at 85% of recommended with 2 applications 8 days apart and utilize air stone during treatment

Copper aid not recommended and useless
Anything safe for tank is safe for parasites

Or the stress of copper and prazi might allow a disease not treated by them (brook) to take hold and kill them.

I get it but I won't do it any more than I would take medications because I think I may get sick. Heck I rarely take any medication even if I am sick and don't get physical exams because I'm not looking for something to treat. I treat animals under my care similar to how I treat myself.
Different strokes for different folks.

Yea the PVC is quite boring but I don’t wanna permanently toast any good rock if copper is going to go in there.

Recommended by some but there are a bunch of folks that would recommend something else… Brook is literally called “clownfish disease”.
