Lifeguard UV's have a good reputation.

Price comparison example--
Lifeguard 25w--- 272

Aqua UV 25w---400

If it was me I'd spend the extra 130 as they are specialists in the field.

Keep in mind that this will last you a lifetime, It's a one time purchase...........no reason to skimp. They also hold up well in re-sale if you ever want to sell it.

I own Aqua UV units and I wouldn't buy another brand except Pentair previously Emperor.

Other ways to save some $ is to make sure you buy from online vendors like Aquarium Specialty, Aquacave, ect that don't charge sales tax.

Black Friday isn't that far away either so keep an eye on sales over the next few months.

Scan the equipment section for a used unit for either of these brands if you choose to spend less.

I have a aqua uv and the transformer and bulb only lasted 5 months. And if you dont have a receipt you are not getting a replacement. The CS in this industry is terrible unless your dealing with BRS. Thankfully BRS sells replacements.

I like there uv’s just there cs is trash. Like most of the other companies.

You can get replacements anywhere, BRS is nothing special. Not keeping the receipt is on you.

Your experience is not the norm, sorry you had problems but there are many satisfied users of this brand.

I like my Lifegard 55W UV. Changed the bulb at 1 yr. Have ran it about 1.5 years.

Well for me CS is a big deal. And BRS is the only company thats stands out above the rest. Not saying its a bad product just pointing out they dont last like you say they do. And im not 60yo that keeps receipts.

Eh, my customer service issues with Aqua Uv and not having a receipt (bought two models second hand), is frankly crap.

The product itself is pretty solid on its own, but dealing with customer service to just even buy parts, Is beyond hassle.

To the OP, lifeguard branded uv's are probably the cheapest 'good' UV I'd buy. Or look second hand but cavet empetor.

I've had my Aqua Ultraviolet UV filter for years now. Yearly bulb changes and quarterly checks for buildup on the quartz sleeve is all I've ever had to do. 100% recommend.

+1 for the Lifeguard. Have a 55w, set and forget. Like the day counter on the ballast so you know when you need to change the bulb.

Oh the unbearable pain finding parts...........took me about 2 minutes to find this.

I've never had to deal with their customer service so I have no opinion but it's not like there are any companies that go out of their way to help you when their product is out of warranty.

My 57W ballasts lasted less than a year. 25W ballast lasted > 2 years likely because it ran cooler.
