Now that lights are off, he’s swimming around a bit more…I'm not sure either. Can you post a video of the gramma?
Jay
Sorry to hear.I put him down, was so close to death I could not see him suffering like that.
is it flukes right?
Beginning of freshwater dip
end of freshwater dip
I've just got a brand new 40L tank for QT.
what should i do now with the other 2 fishes?
1-freshwater dip
2-move in new QT
3-start a new treatment with esha gdex? (Sera tremazol not available here)
Should I leave a few days to fishes to gain more appetite due to praziquantel or should I start straight away with the treatment?
I must clean all the equipment with warm water and bleach correct?
thank you @Jay Hemdal
Sorry to hear.
Did you see any tiny flukes in the bottom of the dip container?
I wonder if waiting a few days for the two fish to stabilize might be best.
Bleach in freshwater is good to sterilize, but tricky to do - you need 5.25% sodium hypochlorite bleach with no perfumes or soaps. You don’t want to use too much bleach - 200 ppm is fine. I’m on my phone though and can’t calculate that.

Day 3 into the second treatment with gdex (66mg praziquantel pr. 1ml)
100L/h airstone blowing into the tank
both gramma and midas blenny didn’t eat much in the last couple days and look lethargic, breathing hard.
Today they looked more lethargic than usual. The midas not moving at all, breathing hard, just resting on the bottom, while the gramma was showing up in front of the midas with full extended fins. Then, in a few minutes, the gramma passed from swimming to stay almost into the overflow’s comb not moving at all.
Now, I transferred them from the QT where they were to another 40L tank also set-up for QT.
They’re both hiding in the corners and look very scared (but thats OK). Still lethargic.
I took a close-up picture to the gramma. Look at the belly and the rear fin!
I don’t know what has happened. The whole QT process was:
6 weeks in QT no treatment
21 days of copper (cupramine 0.58ppm)
4 days with esha gdex (66mg praziquantel pr 1ml)
Water change, then another 3 days with esha gdex
I thought that would have covered all diseases….Did I do anything wrong?!
This quarantine regimen covers most of the highly communicable diseases, perhaps 80%. Brooklynella and some rare microsporidians, internal fungus, etc. are not covered.
In looking at the gramma though, its tail damage is from another fish biting it, probably the midas blenny.
Jay
the midas is going…
what’s the black spot around the belly? Worms or other diseases?
It hasn‘t been eating in the last days! Was eating and spitting out what would have eaten until the day before.
fishes haven’t been hungry, but used to be voracious while doing the copper treatmen…
anything I can do?
