Ok purchased an end game Favia from WWC

first few days it seemed happy. Than BAM I haven’t seen it’s feeder tentacles the last few days

how do I know it’s ok?
Should I just tell WWC and claim the 10 day guarantee?

I’ll be testing water later. But last check

nitrate 10
Phosphates.03
Alk 10
Mag was 1480
Calcium was 480
I run my salinity at 1.026
Temp is 78

Some of your readings are not helping as they are High. Location - Mid tank is best with moderate light and water flow

Recommended:

temp 77-79
ph 8.1-8.3
salinity 1.025
nitrate < .04
phos < .04
ammonia < .03
alk 8-9
mag 1300
CA 440

What test kits are you using ?

I don’t know why my mag or calcium is so high I do not dose. I’m making a new batch of water tonight I think I’m gonna test the mag and calcium on it

When you mix the seawater, test the new batch. It may be your salt delivering high numbers

Favia can be very, idk the word, different. I have about 9 different favias. Light is definitely more important then flow to them. As VetteGuy said moderate light, they’re not a big fan of low light. But they can also not have their feeder tentacles out for no reason. I have a 4 favias within a few inches of each other and 3 are all out and happy at night and the other one hasn’t shown his a 3 days now. IMO I wouldn’t worry unless it’s not puffing up as much, browning, or bleaching.

Ok I’ll test my fresh made salt water and check my numbers. I’ll also test nitrates again tonight. It may be time to switch salts

I use IO reef crystals
I use normal IO salt but I also don’t really do water changes lol. I wouldn’t chase numbers especially not with fresh made saltwater. Although I’ve heard reef crystals is notorious for inconsistent batches and high alk

so for LPS and zoas what numbers should I shoot for?

should I swap salts to regular IO or is there another salt?
There’s no ‘exact’ number, everyone will give you a different answer. I run my alk 9.5, P04 ~0.05, N03 ~10 (trying to fight dinos, I prefer 3-5), calc 450, mag is always been high at 1500, salinity 1.026. Same with salt. I prefer IO because it’s readily available almost everywhere and it’s affordable.
