Hi Guys! Just wondering how long Condy Anemones live in Captivity? I have had him 4 years, he is a purple tipped Haitian Condy, purchased from Petco. He never moved off his rock in four years. For the past two days, he has moved to the glass and still has his color. It never bothered any fish. I have black cardinals, a solo yellow tail Damsel and two Nemo Clowns. I hated this thing, wanted to re-home, but no one wants a Condy, so I kept him and kind of liked him :)
I have full spectrum 100 watt lighting, (my tank is Fowler) just for him. It hasn't lost it's color. It's so sad, as I have a porcelain, anemone crab that keeps it company.
I'm just wondering how long they live and if I have to be on death watch? First time in four years, he actually moved off the rock to explore.
My crab gets fed daily with shrimp, once a month I feed the Condy.

A condy can live many, many years in captivity. But they are well known to be wanderers in a tank. I had one I collected in the Florida Keys (years before they became illegal). It was in my tank for 3 to 4 years before it decided to go on a 'walk about' and did two 360 degree loops in a 75g hexagon tank before it picked a new home. I had it for a few more years before I sold the tank and all the inhabitants.
