Question about shiping

Im wondering what you guys do to get the best rate for shipping through ups or fedex? I have gotten quotes in the past that other people say are really high. Any things to do or sites to use to get shipping cost down? I used shipyouraquatics.com but site hasn't been working.

I think the only way to get a discounted rate is to use them frequently. I'm sure all the big vendors get a bit of a price break due to the amount of business they provide UPS & FedEx, but I doubt the average hobbyist can get these deals. Fenderguy1 works for FedEx, so you may want to PM him to see if he has any advice on discounted rates.

To get good rates you have to set up an account and contract with FedEx. The discount that you receive from a shipping provider is based only by the dollar amount you ship per year. When setting up an account and planning to sign a contract they will evaluate your account for a set number of weeks and base your shipping rate from that.

get an account but more importantly get a sales rep. every area has them. find out who it is in your area and you would be shocked what they can do for you.
the price i pay for shipping a box overnight would shock most people. i used to think i got lucky but when i switched from DHL to fedex and was still able to get a rep to do the same thing i learned that its all about the sales rep you get.
