Hi everyone!

I am an outsider looking in as I don’t have a tank yet but I saw the helloreef 15 gallon clownfish kit and that seemed like a great kit for someone looking to get into this hobby.

I watched the tutorial videos and they said for a 15 gallon you could stock a pair of clownfish and a yasha goby with a pistol shrimp.

Just from what I’ve read this seems like too many fish for a tank this size but would that work?

Also if I did want to stock a smaller goby with a pistol shrimp is there any other fish that would fit in a tank this size? Firefish? (w/ lid), maybe only one clownfish?

What are y’all’s thoughts?

You should be fine to house those as you described.
Always recommend a lid. Firefish should work fine, or a single clownfish.
I had two clowns and a royal gramma in a 15 for a while.
Currently a royal gramma and a sixline. There are options, so long as it's not an angel/tang :D

Welcome! A clown pair + yasha/pistol combo is totally doable in a 15g the yasha goby stays small and spends most of its time near the burrow, so the bioload stays manageable. Definitely get a lid though, gobies and firefish are notorious jumpers.

If you want a third option besides clowns, a single tailspot or court jester goby would also work well and add some personality without crowding things. Best of luck brother!
