Question for the Mechanics out there..

Long story short. I have a 2013 Ford Fusion, and the check engine light just came on. After bringing it to autozone, the code that was read is p26b7. This corresponds to a problem with the engine's cooling bypass solenoid. I should have lifetime engine and transmission warranty, however the dealership is saying it is not covered. I have a hard time believing this, and have attached the agreement that shows which problems are covered. Do you guys see anything that would allow me to fight this? Thanks in adavance reefing friends .

I don't. Anything that bolts on to a engine, belts, pulleys, sensors, sparkplugs, filters and the list goes on will not be covered. It's considered a wear item...

Looks like solenoids are only covered under the transmission and transfer case. That said, its a $20-$40 part that takes maybe 5 minutes to replace.

Coolant bypass valve. not going to be covered by the warranty. look for a tsb.

Knowing where it's located is half the battle. The only issue I see would be the part where they require reprogramming the PCM. However, some said they changed it and only reseting the PCM with success. Is this a turbo charged motor?

No it's not turbo charged. I was told it is drivable and I won't be harming anything by doing so. Do you agree with that?

If it's not overheating you are fine.

Iirc, the fusions and escapes had a lot of severe coolant issues. some cars were catching fire. based on that alone, I would have it replaced.

I think you will be fine for awhile. I would get it fixed, eventually.

TBS technical service bulletin number 13-5-5 for fusion manufactured on or before 2/27/2013. Dealer should be taking care of this.

I found the document your talking about. Now that I found it, your saying I should have no issue getting it covered?

Just because there is a tbs, that doesn't mean it's covered. the dealership told you it wasn't, no?

It's not a recall nor emission related, so I guess they have no obligation. Labor is .8 hrs, so not to expensive of a repair. Just wait till you need emmsions.

It requires draining the coolant so I'm guessing that is a lot of the labor. would be a good chance to do a coolant flush if it needs it.
