Question on skimmer pump sizing

New reefer here, sorry if this question may seem obvious to people with more experience but i was not able to find much help through google searches.

I acquired this old skimmer and catch can so i want to use it on my new tank. I think all that i am missing is the pump and the piece of tubing that feeds the catch can.

I am seeking advice on sizing and recommendations on specific model for a pump to run this skimmer. Also am i correct that i am only missing the pump and a section of tubing?

My tank is a 180 with a triton 44 sump with a vectra and mp40's.

Like a mag 7 or mag 9. or anything about that size would be good.

Thank you! I got a broken mag 9 when i got this skimmer with a bunch of other stuff so that must have been what it was for.

Ya a mag 9 should be perfect.
look On lifereef site and see what pumps they recommend for the same body size Venturi. The skimmer you have is better than all these cheap needle wheels

Dude thank you! I was not aware of lifereef but that was exactly the resource i was looking for. All i knew was the company that made this one (precision marine) went out of business and being a noob i didnt even know the difference between venturi and needle wheel skimmers until now but was confused as to why all the new skimmers were a bit different than mine.

Beckett s and Venturi skimmers are the best. The needle wheels. are a compromise to fit under tank stands.

I got it working thanks to your help i really appreciate it. The mag 9 seems perfect. It is a bit loud compared to my vectra which is silent, is that normal? The small amount of noise doesnt bother me just wasnt sure if its normal. Definately didnt want to spend the money on another vectra so im happy with the mag.
