The following is going into a 150G tank. 48x30x24. My sump first stage is about 25G.

I have a 4 inch Purple Tang in my second stage 20G QT tank. Schedule to be out of QT on 7/8/22.
I have a 2.5 inch White Tail Bristletooth Tang in my first stage 20G QT tank. Scheduled to move to second stage QT on 7/14/22. Then scheduled to move out of QT on 7/28/22.

When it is time for the White Tail to move to the second stage QT I need to figure out what to do with Purple Tang. Here are some options I'm thinking about, but open to there options.
1. Move Purple Tang to sump of tank. It is about 25G. Then add both fish to tank on 7/28/22. Wondering if my Purple will last that long in a small environment. Purple seems happy in the 20G currently.
2. Move Purple Tang to main tank on 7/8/22. Add White Tail to main tank 7/28/22. Put up a mirror.

+1 to this. Purple Tangs are much more violent than others in that genus can be. It’s best to add them both at once instead of risk it with the mirror as even the mirror doesn’t always work.

As always it depends on the individual fish involved.

I’ve never had issues adding additional tangs in my S650 which is around the same size other than normal chasing around for a few hours

I have/had numerous tangs in there, yellow, purple, all sorts and no issues

But if your cautious I would try and add them at the same time.

I had a 4” purple in my 120 for a year before adding a 3” tomini and the purple showed aggression for a few hours but after the lights went out for the night, the next day they got along just fine and have ever since.

I ran a half black mimic tang through QT and placed it in my tank and my purple chased it into a cave and I never saw it again. 6ft 180 gallon with plenty of rock. It was almost bed time when I put it in. figured they would sort things out. Well I guess they did kinda sort it out in their own way at least the purple did. It even gives my Niger a hard time and the trigger is the same size.
