Question? Pulling Apart A Nero 3

Hi guys,

Got a Nero 3 it's only a couple weeks old. Pulled it apart to check the first time it stopped. Was no dramas, pretty sure a snail on the pump disrupted the flow so it stopped. Came apart easy.

The second time I pulled it apart just now the blade was really hard to get off, had to pry it. When I finally got it off without breaking anything this white center piece came out with it.

Is it normal for this piece to come out or is it meant to stay in the housing? Makes the blade so hard to get out because it brings the white piece with it. Rather then just slip the blade off with the white insert remaining in place.

Anyone experienced this before?

I have 5s but the design is the same. That bushing should stay in the motor. Mine have never come out. I wonder if you had it a bit of an angle when you pulled the blade out. That may have caused the bushing to bind on the shaf allowing it to come out of the motor. I would try pushing it back into the motor. It should go in firmly. I tried pulling mine out with forceps and did not move. If it goes in and is loose I would look into a warranty replacement.

Yeh I pushed it back in, still very tight. Mine was stuck on tight, I couldn't get it to budge pulling it off evenly. Seems to be doing ok now after I soaked with vinegar

Working on a brand new Nero 3 as I read this. Can't get the propeller off. Was checking it because it will only move water vertically from the top and bottom of the unit.

Is it spinning backwards by chance? My buddy got one that was doing that right out of the box

Yes, I believe it is. Is there a fix? I already boxed it up for return at this point.

Nope. Needs warranty

Reset the magnetic with cold water over the impeller magnet

Rinse the impeller magnet over cold water then power it up see waht happens

Definitely a PIA & point of sale. Bought 2 Nero 3s one has worked flawlessly since day 1. The other has been dismantled numerous times, cleaned & the ceramic opened up to let the impeller spin freely.
Nothing has helped - next stop is warranty return…

I'm done playing with this one. The propeller won't come off and i'm not playing with magnetism. The one is working great. This one is going back and I've ordered a replacement. Thanks all for the replies.

When I took the impeller off the 1st time I gently removed it with a screwdriver, prying between the holes in the cover. Obviously quality control issues - or lack thereof.

With my luck, I'd break it lol. Since I'm on day 3 with water in the tank, its not a huge deal to wait on the return. Crazy the prices on some of this equipment with lack of QC, but I guess these are 1/2 the price of Ecotech.

You gotta really pull, the magnets hold it place noticeably stronger than other pumps, and it's harder to get a grip on the propeller (sort of like the housing, it's harder to rotate the plastic to unlatch it than the Nero 5). I try to get a few fingers on it to prevent the propeller from spinning backwards and then gradually lift it out.
