I'm not sure exactly where to post this question, but if this is the wrong place maybe a mod could move it.
This isn't feedback or a complaint.
I want to hear from others on what they think.

I recently sold a Royal Exclusiv pump, brand new, never used.
Offered a substantial discount.
The buyer got it and looked at it and has determined it was made in China.
It is well known they are made in Germany.
I asked Scott Leif @slief exactly how and where they are made and he explained that they are still made in Germany.
Because this person thinks they are Chinese made he wants a refund.
I'm curious if other reefers here would ask that and if I should give the guy back his $925.
What do you think?

EDIT:

Finally on 5/8 I heard from paypal that I won this dispute.
What took so long was his charge back to his credit card company.
Both paypal and his credit card company determined that he wasn't telling the truth.

it matters, what is the reason they are giving for thinking it is chinese made? havent really seen any knockoffs of reef products using the exact same name before. clones and copies but not fakes

As long as your sure it was not counterfeit ….I’m a meanie . No returns .
Buyers remorse or spouse discovered the price.

1. Can they confirm WITH evidence it's produced in China, and can prove that it is the exact one you sent?
2. Are they willing to ship back at their expense?

I'd attempt to work with them.

*Edit - They never questioned country of origin before the sale... so there is that....

Did the buyer provide proof? In all honesty if it was a fake then I'd probably offer a refund if it was returned in good shape since it was a honest mistake. If the pump is legit and not a copycat then I politely tell them the add was transparent and there will be no refund.

The pump was bought from Aquarium Specialty.
I have receipts.

He said that since the pump itself doesn't say "Made in Germany" on it. It does however have the street address of the company in Germany on it.

He is saying he thinks the power supply is Chinese made and also questioned where the controller is made.

that is a pretty dumb reason tbh. see if anyone has a picture of their pump that can show if it does or doesnt say made in germany on it.
the controller might be made in china because that might be how they do it, but the pump itself seems to be fine. this sounds like buyers remorse

I'm sure there are parts of it that are made in China as are most items. Probably for or in the Electronics. An expensive piece like that probably has a s/n. Tell him to call the MFG and verify that they made it. He probably has buyers remorse. And what is his proof that it's a knockoff? Because he said so?

I mean, if it is a current user in this forum and that person happens to read this thread, they're the idiot just to put it out there.

No refund.
