No reason to burn the barn or lynch the heathen, as much fun as that might seem, but I've seen enough nonsense in the news media recently that doesn't belong here, imo.
I thought I would invoke the word censors when I called him a butt wipe. FWIW, I didn't say butt.

This is why I hate buying and selling on here. There's a few people i'd buy off of for sure, no qualms at all. There's so many i wouldnt though. Many of which are probably a non-issue i'm just paranoid haha

It can be good, but when it goes bad, it's bad.

This is what he claimed in the dispute,

I bought a water pump and seller advertised it from Germany but when it arrived, it showed as made in China.

That's awful and such a headache to deal with people like that. The manufacturer even states on their website that the power supply is from meanwell... I hope paypal sides with you on this dispute. Also definitely report them here on r2r.

This is a great place for your street attourney to provide some guidance.

Did you advertise the pump for sale as a Royal Exclusiv Pump? If you did, then what does AI have to say:
(My bold added to help clarify the purpose for this exhibit.)
----------------------------------
AI Overview

Red Dragon® 3 Speedy pump 80 Watt / 8,0m³ AKB RD3

Royal Exclusiv pumps are 100% "Made in Germany," specifically developed and produced in Wesseling, near Cologne. The company, founded in 1986, specializes in high-quality aquarium equipment like Red Dragon® pumps and Bubble King® skimmers, featuring titanium components, ceramic bearings, and specialized, high-efficiency engineering.
Key details:
  • Manufacturing Location: Wesseling, Germany (near Cologne).
  • Production Quality: 100% "Made in Germany".
  • Features: Known for utilizing titanium components (screws, rotor, stator) and ceramic bearings for high-end saltwater aquarium setups.
  • Headquarters: Based in Germany with a distribution facility in Ft. Myers, Florida.
----------------------------------------------------
Rest, this is an easy case for even an eBay seller to prevail in.

Edit_ Do not surrendar any funds to eBay unless THEY give this case a reasonable review. That Royal Exclusiv uses China Made power supplies, they are the pump manufacturer, and they make these pumps in Germany but they use Chinese power supplies as part of the original equipment.

This was recently answered in another thread by @RobertK, in fact! He reached out directly to discuss country of manufacture for their red dragon pumps, and components therein!

— I saw the pump myself, they definitely do not have any listed country of origin “made in X” anywhere on the packaging, instructions, or pump itself… just the power supply, which is a third-party item as discussed already… (I can only imagine the packaging/etc is already being relabeled, it’s a bit odd to have no “made in” label…”

I guess the new refrigerator is going to have wait
This seems cut and dry based on where it was purchased from.
If refunding, BE DARN SURE . . . it is the pump You sent and not THEM sending back a different China look-a-like
For some reason I keep picturing a box with a couple bricks in it.
Will PayPal refund him without him actually returning the item?

That will be up to the agent but on higher price items, they generally require tracking info and receipt of item before refund

Well if the power supply is the only part of the unit that has a place of origin marked on it I can understand the seller being confused and thinking the entire pump was made in china. This coming from me as someone who has no experience with this brand. Not siding with the seller just trying to see the sellers side if they are not familiar with the brand. I mean if spent $1k on a pump from a private party and the only country of origin marked on anything was China I might be tempted to react in a similar manner but I would have allowed the seller to refuse a refund before I filed for a charge back. Just trying to look at things from the buyers POV.

Yeah I saw that thread and was in the process of buying the RD 5 so I contacted Scott Leif and got his reply and posted it.
