Meet Jack Blenny. I received Jack on Friday morning and he gave me quite a scare during his acclimation. But, we persevered! Since Friday, he has either stayed wedged between the PVC and glass, in a piece of the PVC, or wedged between the glass and heater, so I've not been able to give him a once over. He's had the stressed, brown, muddled look. The next day, he would eat, but only if it drifted by him. Yesterday he came out to eat and I noticed the back third was becoming more yellow/golden. Today, he came to the end of the tank where I was sitting and just perched for about 10 minutes, and, for a minute, there was some yellow on his head. Then, back to the heater and back to brown. Tonight is the first time he's come out and is actively swimming around the tank. Like VERY active and seems to have his color.

All of that to say, since I've never seen his whole body until tonight, I would like someone to look him over and let me know he looks ok. I guess my only "concern" is the dark spot on the belly. Simply because I don't know what it is for sure.

I hope this isn't too silly of a question. But, I've never had a Blenny 🤷🏻‍♀️

Thank you all!

Yep, mine has the dark spot there too. Also, mine had the “brown banana” look for several days of acclimation before he got happy. He’s now bright yellow with hints of pink when he’s not lurking in the rocks…super fun fish.

Looks pretty good, just a bit thin. You'll want to stay on top of that. Here is a post I made about this issue:

Right now he's in a QT tank with a Helfrichi. They've been in there about a week. Will dosing the tank with praziquantel, as a precaution, harm the Helfrichi?

Those fish are fine with prazi, just be sure to have good aeration from an air stone.

Here is a post on dosing prazi:
