Hello,
I just started a phyto culture (wish me luck) and I have 2 main questions. firstly, is it ok that I'm using a light optimized for chaeto to grow the phyto? I'm not sure if it's better to have a full spectrum light or if the more fine-tuned light is alright. Also, is it ok if I leave the lights on 24/7? I know macros like chaeto need a rest period, but I can't find any information about phyto. I've seen 16+ hours is best, but I'd like to hear some more opinions.

Also, I've seen the issue that you need to split the culture more frequently on a 24/7 cycle, or else it will crash. Is that your experience?

I keep cultures at room temp. Yes lighting them 24/7 with will make them multiply faster therefore you will split more often and feed f2 after each split. I split once a week. I use leds but have used all sorts of lights in the past.
