Questions about phyto

Alright y'all I did my usual trip to my LFS and noticed his hammer coral looked amazing anyways I asked him what he changed in the system and he said he has just started dosing gold and green phyto. Basically everything I've read says phyto wouldn't hurt to have both, my question is one better than the other or is it all just phyto?

Hammer corals wont directly feed of phyto plankton. They will reef off the pods that eat phyto. If you are going to start dosing it i would recommend you grown it yourself, buying phyto is crazy.

Then why was his hammer so blown up? He's had the same pods in the tank, and didn't notice a different in the hammer till after the dose of phyto did it just bring the pods out?
