hey guys so i bought a “mated pair” of mandarin dragonets. In theory i know how to check their gender. Whats my issue now is that my “female” has a longer fin(whats supposedly defining for a male) aswell. My male has a way bigger fin but still im worried i might have gotten 2 males.

In the first picture you can see both, the bigger male in the front, and the questionable one in the back. 2nd pic is a closeup on the questionable female.

Thanksguys!

You have 2 males. Remove one before the larger kills the smaller.

They have been in a 20g or so system for at least 3 weeks before i bought them. My tank is 65g. Ive not seen any aggresion between the two. Actually when i added them first, the smaller one went into hide immediately. The bigger one began strolling around untill it found the small one. After meeting the small one followed the big one around. They seemed like a pair for some time.

I just wannabe certainwith this...

It will not last. Mandarin males are intolerant of other males in tanks 100's of gallons, let alone 65g.

They could be brothers in which case they would be less likely to have issues.
