235 Gallon tank - 60 gallon refugium.
I have one female blue mandarin, very happy and fat…
Abundant amount of copepods - 2 year old tank.
Have been seeding it for a year and a half. They are everywhere.
Plus I dose Ocean Magik every day.
Thinking of getting a red or green male mandarin.
Would you make the move?
TIA!!

I wouldn't expect issues with them just grazing on pods for food, sounds like plenty of space and likely plenty of pods unless you have several other fish eating the same sort of microfauna all day too.

Thanks for the advice! There are pods everywhere, but at night, you turn on the lights and they are everywhere. I may give it a shot.

Agree on plenty of space. I think green and blue mandarins are the same. If you want them to pair get one of those instead of a red (which won’t pair) A mated pair is the coolest thing ever- they do a dance nightly that is the one of the best thing I’ve experienced in reefing.

also just a warning sometimes males that have had their top fin bitten off get mistaken as female (even by biota).

I would go for a male blue and hope they pair up. You can add another pair later, you have the room.
