It is like a smaller borzois. They first took whippets and shelties and crossed them to get a longer-haired greyhound-like (albeit smarter) dog, then crossed that with a borzois. That was called a Windsprite. Then they took a windsprite and crossed it with a borzois to get the silken windhound--more borzois, but still maxing out at about the size of a greyhound.

My good boy was a Spanish greyhound "galgo", and we will eventually rescue another, but my wife liked the silkens and I like borzois, so we eventually found a match and his name is Søren.

Not quite as fast as a greyhound or a whippet, but still ~35mph. My good girl (ex-racing greyhound) could hit 45mph in her heyday.
