Or dying! One of the two! 🤣 I hope it's splitting, sure looks like it could be. Time will tell. I'll keep a close eye on it all weekend, that's for sure. It will either split or die, I guess 🤷. I do know you should not be able to see the rock work through the mouth! And yes! That is a snail in there! How TF? 🤣 This is my second Mag nem. The first one was in a tank I set up 35 years ago. I had it like 12 years. It never split (or died) 🤣 This one I've had about 18 months or so, maybe a little more. I've only been able to find two or three documented cases of Mag nem splitting.

I used pro mode for the video so it's too large to post here. My FB is public so here is the link. I sure would like some opinions.

Best of luck with a split! That would be fantastic. Also, its Heteractis Magnifica. It's previous classification was Radianthus Ritteri. It may change again to Stichodactylus Magnifica according to some of the new research.

Thank you! Yes, I hope it's splitting & not dying!

I just realized that I never followed up on this post. There is no split. I cannot for the life of me determine what I saw in the pics & video I posted above, but the nem moved back up to the top of the rock a couple of days later & hasn't moved an inch since. Here is a grainy pic & a zoomed in screenshot I just took from my tank camera (I'm not at home) but you can clearly see the mouth & it looks totally normal & has been since 2 days after I made the original post.

I am completely miffed as to what I saw that day 🤷

When I originally posted this in July, I thought it was a split. It wasn't.

Today, however, I can confirm 100% I now have two anemones.

One big one one one side of the rock, another smaller one on the other side. It went down the rock face on the back side yesterday & deflated a bit, just like it did in July. This morning, I went downstairs & saw it torn with only a few strands connecting the two. The larger one has crawled up to its perch on the top on the front side of the Rock and looks fantastic. The smaller one is still down low on the back side and looks a little out of sorts. The tips of its tentacles are deflated and it is about 1/3 the size of the big one. But honestly it doesn't look that bad, I think both pieces are going to make it. Of course, I leave town tomorrow for vacation. We have a house sitter coming & the LFS is sending a guy out over the weekend to take a look at everything. He said he'll be prepared to take any corrective action & he'll come by several times to get eyes on it.
