Do montis bleach the rock around them? And why is my rainbow only one color?

Yours is still pretty small, so that could be why you are only seeing one color, did you buy this from somebody where you got to see the colony that had multiple colors?

It was a live sale, and I believe the picture of the piece I got (probably wysiwyg?) had at least 2 colors. It seems to like it's placement, is encrusting, happy polyp extension. I was just curious. Thanks for the response!

Some corals (SPS) seem to do that. (bleach the rock) around them. Why? May be chemical warfare...kind of stinging coralline algae and killing it around where the new growth of the coral is happening. Your montipora looks healthy but does seem a little browned out but definitely healthy looking. Maybe check your phosphates. But for the most part everything looks normal.
