Hi everyone, I bought a miscellaneous coral a coupon of months ago. It died but, a mushroom popped up in its place. Anyone know what kind of mushroom it is?

So that’s not a mushroom but it’s your coral actually coming back to life. Do you remember what it was sold to you as? I’m definitely not an expert with identifying every species of coral but it looks as if it could be an acan echinata.

No I do not. I inherited this aquarium from my boyfriend and he doesn’t know nor remember. We both don’t think it’s the coral because when it was bought it was a lighter red color and then it became a dark grey so we assumed it was dead. It also puffs out when the lights turn off.

It’s definitely the original coral coming back to life. I’m sure someone will chime in with a positive id. Any ideas @fishguy242 @vetteguy53081

The verdict is in and it’s a mushroom it came off the dead coral this morning.
Don’t mind the two corral my boyfriends trying to “save” them
