How long does one treat the infection?

Expanding on the above answer, Orion's original plan involves a week and at at least 3 days after deflation stops, suggesting he had some failures when stopping earlier. He also suggests 100% water change each day with new Cipro added. To be honest, I do not know if I can meet this suggested plan exactly, but we will see. :)

Magnifica update

Ok, 10 AM, lights just turned on. Looks good at the moment. Water not at all cloudy. Let’s see what happens now.

Sorry to hear your mag ended up needing to be treated, Randy.

I found that when I first got my mag It usually would start to look bad towards the middle of the day until night time it would go back to looking good.

That seems to be similar to my situation. Did that resolve on its own, or did you need to treat?

Any idea why light seems to cause issues?

I ended up treating mine just to be on the safe side of things.

Not sure why they do this, unfortunately.

If you are talking about the daily water changes, if I recall correctly I did a 99% W/C every other day, or when the water would look cloudy( this mostly happened the first few days) so there is a little leeway when it comes to that.

Elegance Update

The elegance continues to do well, despite seeing the crab eat a tentacle a few days ago. It appears to be larger to me.

Approaching 4 h into the light cycle, and the deflation is strong, and most so directly facing the light (bottom of picture because the anemone tips down toward the top of the picture). Might be coincidence or not, but I’m going to cut off the lights at 4 h.

Still thinking, and I better wait to be sure the anemone makes it. Leaning toward some type of ocellaris, such as the wild type, davinci or gladiator.

While on the topic, let me ask a question that you may have insight into after processing lots of clownfish.

Some types seem highly variable in pictures. Black ice, for example. Maybe because it’s a cross instead of a true breeding form, but your black ice (good) looks nothing like the live aquaria black ice (terrible):

Thanks very much. In the first picture you post, I like to the top one and not the lower one in the same picture. Too much white just looks like a diseased fish to me. lol

Do davinci and gladiator vary just as much?

Honestly I do not find much of a difference in Dacinci or Gladiator, There are sub designs A and B.
B being not as bold or bigger of the white pattern and is the same as Gladiator. while A is more larger pattern.

Magnifica Update

The anemone continues to look fine when lights are off, but as noted yesterday, it’s the time it light that bothers it for whatever reason. I’ll stick with the 4 h daily light cycle for now during the Cipro treatment. Here’s how it looks this morning, which is about perfect.

I continue to be cautiously optimistic about the anemone. It continues on 4 h per day lighting at about 270 par. Today at 75 min into the light cycle it still looks like it did all night, which seems OK. It has not looked as bad as it did in the display before I removed it.

We will see if it contracts after a few more hours of light, but yesterday any contraction was not particularly evident.

The water has never gotten cloudy. I’ve been doing a 100% water change and Cipro refresh each day, but I’m going to let that go longer now.

Good update. The treatment seems to be working if the anemone remains extended.

What was the biggest struggle throughout this entire experience? Which part was especially difficult, challenging, or labor intensive?
