I know I said spot light, but can the light be raised a little so it’s not quite a laser beam?

Adds an interesting burst of "sunlight" to it. Interested to see how the nem reacts. I dont see it adding much in the way of par. Did you see if it did?

I’ve not measured PAR, but at least when ramped up I expect it is substantial in the local cone. The bulb is only 2” above the water/annemone and at full power has 1/10 of the power of a whole 4’ bar (which are higher up).

Yes, after I see what happens for a few h, I’ll tweak it to cover as much of the anemone as I can (the glass cross bar has a black material down its middle which Makes it hard to get good light right under it.,

I do not like Glass tops myself. Have to use a temporary one until I finish my DYI mesh one . I got shot down when I said on a different post because of salt creep it lowers the Par. That's what I see happening in the photo. If it was me I don't see any jumpers the glass would be indexed in a cupboard. From someone that is losing some Corals so who am I

The glass is a manufacturer cross brace, not the full tank top.

Par measurements for my lighting test.

Spot light off, about 1” from oral disk of anemone (which is facing sideways), with sensor facing up 208

Spot light on 25%: 285

Spot light on 100%: 585

After 3.5 h on 25%, no negative reaction:

This Post is for Jumbo Shrimp and for others who may be interested in my glass top statement . I cleaned the glass top and took readings with my Apogee with the sensor in the centre about 8 inches deep and then just under the surface. And again same locations no lid. With glass surface 8 inches . Then no lid surface 8 inches . Again that is with clean Glass

I do wish I had a canopy. You get so many more lighting and accessory mounting opportunities.

Yes, and the look of things like auto feeders inside doesn’t show in the room. :)

Has its disadvantages as well. Wont work with some lights (looking at you Orphek) mounting height is too close to water surface, might need venting with fans on others, can limit accessibility. I like a canopy for the most part though. The thought of having to cut the canopy I have for my 180 for my lights is probably one thing that is leading to my procrastination of setting it up, along with wanting to do very little when I get home from work. Canopy and stand were 3x cost of the actual tank thats hard to cut into....lol.

So are you saying that yellow bulb light might keep that anemone in place?

That is a hypothesis, yes. Since I don’t know what it is looking for, more light is as good a hypothesis as any at this point. Since they can live in shallow water and can even be exposed at low tides, at least some of these types thrives in very bright white (as opposed to blue) light.

Another leading hypothesis is that it has some sort of foot problem, but I cannot look at that unless it releases again or I pry it up. Also i’m not sure what to look for aside from obvious damage, which if more than a small thing, I expect I would have seen by now.

Is the flow turned off in the pictures of the anemone?

No, I never turn off the flow unless some sort of emergency situation is taking place. It has moved itself and seems to be staying in the lowest flow area. It has not moved from there in more than two weeks after moving out of higher flow situations.

did your stinky bacteria in a bottle solve your cyano issue? I’ve stopped urea but the cyano persists. Not increasing, maybe a little less now, but still present.

Must be in the air 😂 I’ve got a few spots on the sand popping some red slime.
I had a small spot and decided to watch it . It eventually dissapeared in abot a month. Have no idea why. Also had some on a small rock with no Coral on it so just picked it out and submarined it. I am always afraid of dispersing things like that if you start messing with them physically , and don't like chemical war fare which causes a problem for sure. Wish there was a way to starve that sort of thing

It clearly helped. It's not as low as I'd like and is coming back, so I will dose again just before I'm out for a while. lol
