RBTA guts hanging out?

Hi all,

I have an RBTA that I purchased in the hopes my clowns would host it (and they recently have started to - yay!)

However, I think its health has been steadily declining since I got it in November. It deflates and turns grayish about once a day, but I don’t directly feed it super often so I don’t think it could possibly be expelling waste that often. Brown stuff usually comes out of it while it’s shriveled up and I’ve read different things about whether this is waste or whether it’s expelling xooanthellae (sp?)

I just looked in the tank and got quite a shock as it currently looks like its guts are hanging out?! (I’m attaching a bunch of pics with dates.)

I have a 90 gallon fish only (for now) setup with plenty of light and flow.
Nitrates: 10-15 ppm
Nitrites: 0
Ammonia: 0
Salinity: 1.025
pH: 7.8 (always struggling to get it up)

I should note that the tank was only set up for about 2 months when I purchased the anemone (I later learned anemones do much better in well established tanks) and since it was purchased it has gone through a tank change as we upgraded from a 30 to a 90 gallon. I’m guessing all of the instability hasn’t been great for him, but he still looks decently healthy when he is normal and ‘inflated’ for most of the day.

Any advice/guidance would be greatly appreciated!! Is this normal? A sign of stress? A sign it is dying??

That was my fear- thank you. It’s out of the tank. Any advice on what to do with it as it’s still alive? Definitely won’t be trying another anemone until the tank is more stable.

With your last pic, that thing is gone. Put it in a ziplock back and throw it away, and then take out the trash. (Don't flush it.)
