I want to start a thread on RBTAs and how they actually need nitrates about 3ppm to Flourish.. so they do better in dirtyish tanks similar to mushrooms and zoas

Yes they seem to like dirty water. My system has no skimmer, so my nitrate is minimally at 30. With that said, the only thing flourish in my tank are the BTA. Nothing else grow well. I have no success with torch either. So at the end of the day, one still has to find a happy medium. Here is my 2 feet BTA-scape.
Additionally, my BTA get stressed out when I don run carbon. But that could be because I have no skimmer.

2 and above seems to be where I see them actually strive. I have seen them do well in very low nutrient tanks, it's just significantly harder to pull off and requires a completely different set of things.
