When I use the Nyos nitrate test kit, the colors in the vial are always way more intense/vibrant than the colors on the comparison sheet. I'm assuming you're supposed to compare against the hue (i.e. the orangeness/yellowness) and not necessarily the intensity? It seems hard to match them up, especially when the reading falls in between of the two circles. Would using a smaller scoop of reagent make the color in the vial more pale like the comparison sheet, but still be an accurate reading?

Unlikely. They've made only 1 post here and that was almost a year ago.

I've not used that kit to comment on it, but I would not change from the directions to try to match color intensity.
