I am getting ready to buy a Calcium reactor and have a Neptune Apex system ( temp and ph prob). I was wondering what is a good set up to go with. Thank you in advance

welcome to r2r gentle sunlit reef.gif

I'm envious; I want a CaRx myself but don't have a good place to put one.
I'd probably be looking at models from Deltec, Geo, and Reef Octopus.
#reefsquad, any thoughts?

I had one back when I had my 435g system (a180g & 75g DT's with a 180g sump/refugium). But I found it to be more of a headache than it was worth and went back to using dosing pumps. Chemicals were dirt cheap since I used then (and still use today) Dowflake, Mag Flake, Epsom salt and pool supply soda ash.

Thank you for your input i guess a little more research on my part is needed

I just switched over to a Calcium Reactor 4 months ago. Running the Vertex Calcium Reactor, Aquarium Plants Carbon doser regulator and Kamoer peri pump in the pull configuration and couldn't be happier. Best stability I've seen in my 25 years of reefing.

Welcome to Reef 2 Reef!!

When your ready to pull the trigger...

Love my two stage GEO cal reactor... :) You can give GEO all your specs. and they will help you pick the right reactor to your needs.

Be sure to invest into a good dual stage regulator too.

There are a few ways to run a calcium reactor. I use the Carbon Doser and use a ph probe in the Calcium Reactor to keep a burn range from 6.90 to 7.0. My affluent drip coming out of CaRx is almost a steady stream. The Apex will turn on the Doser and inject the Co2 when PH goes above 7.0 and shuts off at 6.90.

The Burn range is something that you will have to adjust and find the sweet spot of your tank demands to keep alk and calcium stable.

I’m thinking of buying a geo nano calcium reactor for my Red Sea reefer 170, but I’d like to add the second chamber to help with ph. Is this possible with the nano? And if so, how?
