What would you guys recommend as my next fish? Currently have two clowns, a cleaner shrimp and a Scarlet hermit. 55 gallon

It’s a pretty tall tank with some decent swimming space. I think you could get away with a tang honestly. Personally I like wrasse and tangs. A rule of thumb would be to start from least aggressive to most.

Tank has been up for about 5 weeks now, cycled in 3. Clowns added right after that. We would honestly love a tang, but know they need some decent swimming room. Corals eventually, once I get the hang of this hobby. Not in a rush

I’d skip the tangs, as they were nothing but trouble for me. I’d also hold off a few months and let your tank really settle in. Then you can add fish to a fully functioning reef which will allow more sensitive fish to have a easier time acclimating to the tank.

Besides that, I would consider adding a leopard wrasse. Peaceful, active, and pretty darn good looking. just make sure you have the pods to help sustain him until you get him eating prepared/frozen.

I think a Tomini Tang will likely be OK in this tank. My Tomini is doing fine in my 65 gal tank which is only 36" long. 55 gal tank is narrower and a little shorter but 48" long.
I also have a harem of 3 African Flameback angels and a pair of Ocellaris clown in it.

Here are the fishes in in 65 gal. I think I may want to put a flasher wrasse and possibly a pair of some Prawn goby and their Pistol Shrimp in additional to the 6 fishes I have in it right now. Remove the anemone in the back so the clown pair will move into my anemone in the front, and a CBB to take care of the aptasia. Too bad he will take care of all the feather duster also.
