I have a Red Sea Max E 170 with a trigger sump. I roughly have 60 gallons in total. Red Sea recommends at least 2700 lph flow rate. I am looking at Eheim Compact on 2100; Varios pumps maybe 2 or 4. I am guessing about 5ft of head loss. I am guessing here with Varios 4 highest setting with had loss, I will have 530gph. Thoughts?

check out Reefbreeders nautilus pumps, awesome functionality and great value. I used one on my latest build and it runs silent.

Looks like the display of a Reefer 170 is about 34 gallons (130 Liters)? 2700 LPH (712 gph) seems like way too much flow from the return pump to me. Maybe they mean total flow, not return pump flow?

I've used Eheim pumps for the last 40+ years and they're dependable, great pumps but DC pumps are silent and adjustable flow. I'm using a couple of the Innovative Marine Mighty Jets and highly recommend them. I wouldn't be surprised if they're made by the same Chinese manufacturer that's making the Reefbreeders pumps recommend above.
