I have the same algae on my rock. It was present for about 4 months, now it's finally starting to flake off

Any idea what it is I have had it since inception it came on a rock I had and was told it was coraline....but with the texture and appearance after almost a year and it growing and spreading definitely not coraline...

No it is not, if you turn your lights on white you will quickly notice that the algee is green. To be honest I have no idea what it is. I am going to wait for a response myself. I can tell you it is tough to get rid of.
