Might be to late but heck yea I would try to save it. I wouldn't buy another high end piece from that lfs you got it from if I were you too. Just me though.

That guy is FAR beyond recovery. Up to you, but leaving it in the tank will cause other issues. Turn all your flow off, and Suck it out, all the insides will turn into floaters in the water column if you try to pick it up in one piece with your flow on. You really don’t want parts of the disk with tentacles to break loose and land on your other corals. It happens. No chance that anemone will come back to life. Sorry to say. It’s falling apart.

Try it again, but wait a couple months, and don’t wait so long to act if it doesn’t look good the first few days. You can’t be afraid to pull it out and put it in a treatment tank for observation. If you’re not willing to pull an anemone out of the DT for observation or treatment, don’t try another one. JMO

Sorry to see. Everyone of them is a heart breaker to lose, cost aside. Best of luck to you on your next try. :)

Sorry for your loss, I’d suggest sending a water sample to Triton for testing to get specifics on you water parameters to correct any underlying problems in the future but just my .02

Since you asked the question I'll answer it, even if it's not an answer you want to hear. As was mentioned earlier by @Joshky there are probably less than half a dozen people in this hobby who are vocally willing to help people when it comes to anemone care, who actually REALLY know what they are talking about. You took the avenue of deciding that just because you had some minor success with something you tried, that you would essentially blow off and not listen to a multitude of those voices. You were told this animal needed to be treated WEEKS ago. Instead of listening, you thought you knew better and took multiple other actions.

I know myself personally I knew this was going to turn out like this when you put out your "experienced help only" post a few weeks back. Most of the knowledgeable folks dropped out trying to help you at that point, myself included, because we all saw where this was headed and realized you were only going to do what YOU wanted to do. @Taylor t was nice enough to try to help you after that, but because of pride you went into minor updates mode and continued to try to battle this based on whatever information you could find which supported what you wanted it to.

So to directly answer your question as to "what went wrong here". This animal needed to be treated a long time ago. You let your pride get in the way and decided you knew better than all the folks who have had dozens of these things and decided to go your own way. So in my "harsh" opinion, hubris did this anemone in and nothing else.

Hopefully you learn form this and I am actually very sorry for your loss.

I said this before, both in thread and privately, and I was only met with hostility and prideful comments. And all I'll do now is agree again. I'm sorry for your loss, but this is exactly what needed to be said.

The two I posted a picture of were both treated when I bought them. I listened to and read great advise. I have had the red for approx 5 years and the green one even longer. It sucks that you lost that anemone. Hopefully you can learn from this.

They must care more for their false egos then my Haddoni, sad.

I was given good advice from a few, an I followed most of that advice.
Its been stated many here doubted If It was truly bacterial, no one came with a real anemone with a real story until after the fact.

Lighting was never clarified, still dont know If Its 50PAR or 300PAR.

From not knowing If I overpaid, to how to get these guys stable.

No you followed what you wanted to and what you felt was easiest. You chased random numbers and had huge fluctuations in doing so. Treatment with carpet anemones is one of the first things suggested and you consistently ignored it and kept telling everyone you knew better than them. You said you had advanced experience with carpets after having this one for 3 months, and didn't treat it when those of us that have acclimated dozens of them said you should. Calling us all "wannabe gurus" and ignoring treatment advise got you to this point, I really am so sorry, a lot of us tried to help. It was a beautiful anemone.

Look man, I dunno what your issue is, but you're awfully dense and unreceptive to feedback. That's not a very good recipe for success dealing specifically with anemones. I answered your question because you generally seem concerned and confused as to what happened. I tried to explain it to you as best I could and you turn around and respond with the same kind of ridiculousness that got you in this situation. That sadly tells me you learned nothing from this experience and it clearly in your mind was no fault of your own, when the sad and harsh reality is, this anemone should have still been alive today.

You really should consider how you're coming across to others whom you're seeking advice from if you want other to give you advice for free on a free forum. Good luck in your future reefing en-devours.

The day I bought the Anemone I did exactly as the LFS instructed. Albeit never clarified lighting til much later, which wouldn't have mattered the original lighting recipe was dimmer but similar.
The carpet after a few days looked worse an worse, but attached. Decided then It was time to seek out the masters, oh what a disaster..I never blamed anything but myself, well my reef more specifically..
Everything else Is very happy ;) From the beginning the responses where vague and negative. Only a few truly CARED an messaged or offered true evidence and experience.

You would mention treatment, but never explain It. Instead you chose a condescending vibration, coming to help only when situations seemed to be at their end..
Every time the carpet would make a breakthrough or show progress, which It started to,until the last regurgitation episode that ultimately led to its demise..
You wouldn't comment or strain treatment. Haha not that you made treatment out to be very reassuring.. Claims made out would be a wasted effort, an some even
said I would need a prescription making the Tablet seem unattainable (one very COOL reefer offered to meet up :cool: an give Cipro). Finally knowledgeable people got me
word on Fishflox. Sadly that was when the carpet unattached the third time In two days, for no visible reason, light was consistent at least two weeks, scheduled maintenance was performed..

I tried my hardest could not find an answer could not keep It alive, yet my Reef Is doing swell...

This is what I think and don't take it personal fellow reefer, first mistake was listening to your lfs and second your tank wasn't mature enough for that sensitive animal. I'm pretty sure this has taught you something , but I'm sure you'll bounce back when you're ready for one again and hopefully by that time you have gotten a full understanding of these nems. GL

Personally I don't think you or your tanks are quite ready yet. I know you may have studied them and that's great but you failed on water quality. You didn't even have test kits because you couldn't "give us numbers right now". Your tank is young. I wouldn't let myself have an anemome until about 18 months after my tank was up. By that time I knew how this tank I have now worked.
I hope you take this as constructive criticism and not as a bashing as I am truly sad the nem is gone.
Work on your quality and stability of your water and try again when you know it's great. Make sure you have everything you need for that animal cuz they are so delicate.

Salnity 1.024 stable 78F.

The LFS tested my water 2 weeks ago, said the calcium and mag where slightly elevated..
I cant give a good number for you right now. I remember him telling me Alklinity was 7.8

Tomorrow I will be taking the day off work to get some Salifert test kits, and have my LFS test to be double sure on whats going on here
