I notice some of this red algae growth out about a month ago and I'm amazed the growth rate of this thing.

Picture taking on 5-9-08.

Thank you for your comments !!!! I recently move this piece of rock from FWLR tank a few month ago to my SPS/LPS tank. Bright lighting ; Strong water flow plus good nutrients which triggered the fast growth of this algae and before It didn't have a chance to growth out because my Tang keep eating it.

It's right now in 120gls tank under 1x400watts Ushio 20K-SE-MH and 2x 175watt Ushio -SE-MH 14K also supplement of 2x VHO T12 super Actinic and 2x T5 HO 1- actinic &1- 12k.( T5 is on adjustable dimmer)
Schedule of lighting as follow :
Everyday T5 on @ 12PM 50% dim > T12 on @ 1PM > both 175W MH on > @3PM 400W MH on & turn off both T5 and T12 @3:05 PM

@11 PM Both T5 and T12 back on > 400W MH Off 11:05 > both 175W MH off
11:20 > T12 Off @ 11:45 > T5 down 50% @ 12:30 > off @ 1AM

I am try Propagate this on to another rock and move it to another tank. will post out come in later day.

Just give you an update!!! I trim a couple pieces off and rubber banded them to a rock last week and today , It appeared that some had attached it self to LR.

That's really cool looking!

Are you afraid it will take over?
