Red/Maroon algae growing on everything!

Hello everybody!

I'm not sure where this maroon colored string algae came from but it spreads like wild fire and my snails just don't seem to have a taste for it. I did have someone suggest a yellow tang but I wanted to get some more opinions. Here is a picture before it really became a problem (bottom of the pic the stringy stuff).

I've had that stuff come in on frags before. Not sure what it is. But it never really got out of hand for me... I got as much off as I could with a tweezers.

Did you ever notice any fish nipping at it? Perhaps it is something with my water params. I might have to do some tests this week.
