Hi,

I've been kicking around the idea of upgrading my 6 year old IM Nuvo 40 for awhile. Yesterday I got an email from Red Sea saying they have clearance on G1 systems. I'm debating between the 250 and 350 which are $600 and $700 off respectively. That makes it within my price point.

What are the real world differences between the two though? Do I need to worry about the seams coming apart on either of these two smaller tanks? Can I run reefmat on the G1 sumps? Any other insight?

Thanks,

Travis

I got that same email and its funny they are making you think its a huge discount cause they are comparing to G2 prices
I had a G1 350 i bought in 2020 and it was 1999 and the 250 was 1599.
So you are really only saving $200 vs the original G1 prices
i think the big difference is the G2 has 12mm panels on all sides. vs the G1 had 12mm front and rear and 10mm on the sides.
the upgrade to thicker on the G2 was probably to address the issues of the G1 tanks busting seams and leaking all over.

the G2 sump is setup for easy drop in of the reefmat. the G1 i think you have to cut out the filter sock section.
