Hi All! I am new here... we have had aquariums off and on over the years. Just started back up with a 30 gallon tank. My goal is a beautiful reef tank. I had a complete crash out leaving my LFS last weekend after they talked me out of every fish I wanted to put in my tank because it was "too small"... Anyways we have been looking to upgrade to a bigger tank.

We found a Red Sea Max s 500 being sold used for $850. Price wise it seems like a steal. I did see reviews about red sea having failures and seams popping etc... most seem to be with their other models of tanks... Just looking for some input on this tank.

I won't bring another red sea tank into my home.
This is my reefer 170 that had a seam fail.

This is a verticle and horizontal seam failing on my existing Reefer 300 g2

Now I get to look forward to moving all this out to another tank. Fun stuff 😡

PS. Kudos to your LFS for not selling fish too large for your tank. That doesn't happen often enough IMO

I have a Max S-650 that's about 4 or five years old that I picked up used from my LFS. Overall, this series seems to be decent tanks. Mine was complete with lights, a regal skimmer, and a 25 watt UV, 300 watt heater and all pumps. Probably depends on what you get with it but just for the Tank, stand, sump maybe $500.

ARE YOU READY TO CONFESS TO CRAZIEST, DUMBEST, FUNNIEST THING YOU’VE EVER DONE IN REEFING?
