Red sea g2 downflow valve worked without problems for 8 months. Now it seems completely impossible to adjust, either the water level drops or it rises. Have unscrewed the valve and cleaned it, but still have problems. Anybody have any good tips?

I have the same issue. I posted the issue herereplace with gate valve
Did you order parts from Red Sea?Replacing mine hopefully tonight if ups shows up with my other part.
Give it time you will feel the wrath of the stock valve.I could never get my water level in the overflow to fully stabilize with the stock g2 valve until I swapped out my return pump for a dc pump. It’s been very stable now ever since…in fact I don’t touch the valve at all anymore and if I need to make adjustments to the water level, I’ll just increase or decrease return pump speed ever so slightly. Only have had to do this here and there though, not often.
Let us know how it does for you over the next few months. I'd say about 35-50% that do the swap out for a proper gate value still end up having issues due to the inconsistencies of their return pump output fluctuating, resulting in the continued need to always still fine-tune.Well words can’t express how happy I am right now.
Fine tune is one thing but I’ve literally watched it drop the level in my sump within minutes. Always in the morning.Let us know how it does for you over the next few months. Geeze, that is rough! That could definitely raise your stress levels on the pursuit of stability...especially if you ever want to take a vacation. I hope the new gate valve helps you!Fine tune is one thing but I’ve literally watched it drop the level in my sump within minutes. Always in the morning.
It did for sure. Especially when I used to work away from home two weeks at a time. I have liquid level sensors everywhere lol. I had to shut off my ato and do it manually otherwise my salinity would be all over the place.Geeze, that is rough! That's exactly what I'm dealing with. I removed filters and bubble trap sponge to eliminate possible cause of flow obstruction, but it didn't make any difference. So the issue is either in the diaphragm valve or the ReefRun pump being inconsistent. Contacted Read Sea support but they didn't offer any solutions yet!Mine goes from great to an empty return in a blink of an eye. To the point I don’t use my ato I manually add everyday or it just dumps in ro water. I have tried everything new valve no bubble trap sponge with and without reef mat. I took all the plumbing out to make sure there was no plug. Different return pump. I’m done with it it has taken so much joy out of the hobby worrying what I’m going to wake up to. Thank god for my apex.
