I'm currently having the exact same issue. Every morning the level in the skimmer chamber increase which make the water level to drop in the return chamber which makes the ATO go nut and drop 0.7 gal (in a RS200) which affect the salinity.Fine tune is one thing but I’ve literally watched it drop the level in my sump within minutes. Always in the morning.
It worked great for me. I ran it that way up until I broke it down a month or so ago. I upgraded to a 200 ext that uses a gate valve and the bean animal overflow. That Red Sea diaphragm is garbage. The problem with those Red Sea valves is they are so inconsistent and god forbid something goes through there like a piece of bubble Algea or what not.I'm currently having the exact same issue. Another issue is when I put the return pump in feed mode, after I turn it back on it takes 30-40min for the water level to balance itself back so I need to remember to shutdown my ATO for that duration. If not it will drop about 1 gal and really mess up my salinity. I'm going crazy over here lol. I have the "new" G2 diaphragm valve.
Is the gate valve still working out for you?
What size Red Sea tank do you have? I’m going to embark on switching out for a gate valve as well. I have a RSR 300XL G2. My only mental snag is fitting the bottom to connect to my reef mat. I don’t mind keeping the corrugated pipe, but what about the threaded connection? I just know how much of the original plumbing I can use or am I building from scratch?..It worked great for me. Mine needed adjusting every 3-6 weeks. If I had kept the tank I would have replaced it with something different.Red sea g2 downflow valve worked without problems for 8 months. Now it seems completely impossible to adjust, either the water level drops or it rises. Have unscrewed the valve and cleaned it, but still have problems. Anybody have any good tips?
