Hello guys I have the Red Sea nano mat on my Red Sea nano g2 xl since Wednesday…..this thing has not turn on once yet…is this normal? Has not rolled over to new material yet……..anyone have this on there tanks? Also the nanomat makes my tank loud a lot of water sounds ….thanks guys

Is the middle light flashing? It won’t turn if so. I had to take the carbon out on my my max nano peninsula to get it to have the water at the right level.

Ok one more possibly dumb question. The other thing I had to do to get mine to work was take the teeth out of the overflow and reset them once the nanomat was snug. You probably already did this as well but just going through my mental checklist I had to do. :).

I have the same experience with mine. I have installed it nine days ago in my sump with the adapter and the level is still not rising. I have checked the fleece and it had some green gunk on it but apparently not enough. I decided to speed up the pollution by putting the hose of my vac cleaning tube in the return compartement of the sump and siphoning a lot of detritus from the substrate directly into the filter but even then no waterlevel rise. Ive noticed also that some of it passes the fleece and the sump is getting more dirty after a couple of days of siphoning. No matter what I do the waterlevel won’t rise. Checked the fleece repeatedly and it seems to close up the mesh grid. I guess a small tank (100L) with 2 fish and a light bioload of corals and crustacians is causing the delay of advancing but even when I feed a lot of debris it won’t clog the fleece enough , very strange knowing that most problems are the opposite 🤷🏻‍♂️ . I guess it just takes much more time to run it in. Mabe I need more flow. I’ ll keep you Guys updated.

Inlet is installed
Then my guess is your tank is not full of enough water. I noticed theres a fine line to get it to the perfect spot - not too high for it to not work - and not too low for it to not run automatically. do you have the ATO+? If so - where is your ATO+ water level sensor at?

This one has finally moved after a 12 day run in period. I made an ajustment to dial up my ecotech Vectra S1 returnpump flow with 50% to increase the waste collection in the tank. When I stir up the tank now the nano mat takes a step of about 3 cm / 1 inch within a couple of minutes. So this clean surface area of 3x5,5 cm is clogging up much faster of course.

Hey, sorry I missed your reply.
I do not have the same tank. I have Red Sea MAX NANO G2 XL (AIO, with the sump in the back). But NanoMat is a bit weird. Mine works, but it eats rolls very fast. A roll is done after a week (3 so far).

But everything is based on the water level. I probably need to lower my water level just a bit to make it roll a bit slower, and you need to increase it a bit (or move the NanoMat lower). If the water level is too close to the sensor (my case), the NanoMat will roll faster as it takes just a bit more water to reach the sensor.

I hope it works well for you now! I am still not sure if I like it or not haha :)

How is the nano mat so far? I'm considering getting the same Max g2 xl with the nanomat but seems like a lot of people cannot get the nanomat to work properly in regards to water levels in the back sump.

For rollermat to work properly, you have to have proper flow that is recommended with the rollermat suggests…. To slow, it won’t rollover, too fast and now you are wasting too much roller.

I also heard you had to have the water level at specific low level. Does it work with just the RedSea+ Auto top off or any ato?

It works with any ATO. It has a lot to do with the right water levels also. A lot of people have it in aio tanks, including me, and it takes some patience to get it right. I also have one in a RS 170 with no issues
