I've just had a spam email from Red Sea, pushing their new line of framed, eurobraced reef tanks. Is this an admission that their rimless tanks fell apart?

They've had eurobraced on the 425's and up but it does look like they are bracing all of them now. Maybe they will slowly remove the non eurobraced versions?

Seams like it would have been much easier to just stop using the crap 2 part silicone and problem solved. I wonder if they have ever even analyzed some of their failed tanks to determine what the actual cause of the failures is or are they still just guessing? Maybe they should bring @UncommonSense in as a consultant

Agreed, other manufacturers are not having the same issues with similar sized tanks. Eurobraced or not doesn't fix bad silicone. They've officially missed something that others have not.

Got the same email. Did some research and it’s more about the stand than the tank. The stand now fits the tanks with no tank overhang.

Fortunately auto manufacturers would be forced to correct their problems. Unfortunately red sea can just spew some BS and keep on selling the same garbage with no repercussions.

Sounds like they still throwing darts at the problem instead of determining what it actually is. I had hoped they changed the silicone on G3s and just didn't admit it for obvious reasons and credited the eurobrace. Now it seams they've circled back to the stand again.

I was at RAP NY over the summer and stopped at the RS booth. The gentleman was showing off all the improvements to the G2. One of which is a metal outside brace for front of tank to support the front pane. Would it have not been easier and more aesthetically pleasing to include a 3/4 “ marine grade” overlay for their existing cabinets rather than this ugly bracket moving forward? Offer the bracket to previous customers for a free upgrade.

Last I checked, a few weeks ago, a 4’x8’ sheet of 3/4” marine grade plywood was $136!

That said, an aluminum extrusion is probably the cheaper option for them…

TBH I think they're Just trying to appease people so they can keep making money for the shareholders. I'm all for profit but I'm also for admitting and correcting mistakes which IMO RS has not done and doesn't appear to have any intention of doing.
The owner of my go to LFS who also services accounts is no longer recommending RS tanks after talking to his RS sales rep. He asked the rep about the failures. He wouldn't tell me exactly what was said but he told me it didn't give him warm fuzzy feeling so he will now only sell a RS tank if a customer insists.
