Hello i need some opinions, I have some one that is willing to sell me their reefer 250 v2 with stand and sump for $400. Needs cleaning of course and he said we can do a water leak test.

ive never purchased a used tank before, What are things I should look for? And/or should I buy a used tank?

Well If the tank holds water there isn't much else to be worried about. Look for scratches on the glass, and or broken broken parts in the stand.

If you don't mind the coraline algae I would say that tank is a steal to buy at that price. You could also put in the work to remove the algae just know you may not get it all.

To help clean, you can use cleaning vinegar with water and powerheads for a few days or longer. Vinegar melts coraline aglae.

I sold my Red Sea and picked up a used 125 gal. My only regret is the loss of the super nice glass for plain old glass with scratches. I sold mine for 800 bucks so looks like a deal.

Oh, soak any pumps you get as well and powerheads if you get. part vinegar and part water.

Yea just make sure not to soak it in vinegar in your room or it will smell like vinegar for hours. Made that mistake when I bought my new tank trying to clean it...

Just looked at your pic again, and cleaning vinegar, a bottle or 2 or 3 in the water will take care of the coraline. Try 1 or 1.5 and add if you need more

I soaked my 40 gal in the house. Wasn't too bad. Not too obnoxious

I should say restate it, I purchased the tank at about 7ish before the store closed. I then read on the internet vinegar works and ran out to go get some and soaked it at night before I went to sleep in my room. I am guessing to whole it being in my room and trying to sleep didn't help, I don't know what could have went wrong in that picture lol.

I can't tell from pic. maybe upload a full image? did you put your finger on it in the inside to see if you feel anything. Dosent look like it bows out. Is the glass flat? No curve?

So I ended passing on it just because I was sure, there was no curve and I couldn’t feel anything. But I just wasn’t 100% sure on it and didn’t feel comfortable.
