I asked BRS today about that to connect my Vectra L1 to a 525XL, was told I need a Vectra L1 Schedule 40 adapter Kit and 1inch to 5/8 Barb

I can see where that would help to get a better connection from the pump to the schedule 40 plumbing, but I still don't see how that would help you get the schedule 40 to the Red Sea's return pipe without the use of soft plumbing. Unless the other adapter slips over the Red Sea return plumbing.

Looks awesome :) Always super cool to see another 525xL build! If you happen to be on the west side of the state... I have a manifold for the 525 sump thats all set up with three valves and I used it for 5 months or so until I changed my sump out.

Have any stocking plans yet?

I'm impressed with the packaging of the RSR, I should be getting one of my own soon!

It was real well done. Only issue would be if someone accidentally had their forks too high, it’s either destroying the cabinet box or smashing the tank. But I would hope at that point they wouldn’t try to sell it.

I’m on the east side. Appreciate the info though! How did you connect your manifold to the Red Sea return pipe?

I already have a reefer 250, that I will be tearing down after this tank cycles, so the initial stocking plans are easy, everything from tank!

They were awesome, couldn’t imagine just flat out lifting the tank. I only had my self and one other person helping get it inside.

Hopefully this helps - I did a breakdown of my manifold for someone else in my build thread, so it might help when thinking about yours. One thing I wish I would have done was bump everything to 1" instead of 3/4" PVC, otherwise the rest is relevant and referenced in the pictures below.

So I'll start at the Vectra and work towards the red sea return pipe (threaded potion only).

Vectra union (comes with the pump - its the blue ring)
3/4" red schedule 40 pvc
3/4" dual true union ball valve
3/4" red schedule 40 pvc
3/4" 90 degree slip/slip elbow
3/4" red schedule 40 pvc
3/4" "T" slip/slip fitting (3/4" red schedule 40 pvc - 3/4" union - 3/4" red schedule 40 pvc - elbow - 3/4" to 1/2" adapter - Reactor)
3/4" red schedule 40 pvc
3/4" "T" slip/slip fitting (3/4" red schedule 40 pvc - 3/4" slip/slip Gate valve)
3/4" red schedule 40 pvc
3/4'" "T" slip/slip fitting (3/4" red schedule 40 pvc - 3/4" slip/slip Gate valve)
3/4" red schedule 40 pvc
3/4" 90 degree slip/slip elbow
3/4" red schedule 40 pvc
3/4" 90 degree slip/slip elbow
3/4" red schedule 40 pvc
3/4" 90 degree slip/slip elbow
3/4" red schedule 40 pvc
3/4" threaded male adapter (about 15-20 wraps of teflon tape)

Already messed up...! First off, I don’t like the fact that they stopped sending the “white” version in all white. I paid the extra money, make it all white Red Sea!

For those that build a white cabinet version, note that they give you 3 legs, 2 black and 1 white. If you have the black version you use the two black, if you have the white version you use the rear black and the front white.

The instructions are not optimal and none of the cabinets are marked with the corresponding letter from the instructions.

Won’t be a deal breaker for most, but a couple things Red Sea should shore up on future generations/updates.

Ran into a small problem with the left side panel of the cabinet. There’s a foam strip that runs along the bottom of the inside of the panel that acts as a lip for the bottom foam piece where the sump will go. Problem being that the strip was set to low so when I tried to marry it to the cabinet, there was a decent size gap that prevented me from being able to secure it with the screw fasteners. Nothing a straight edge razor couldn’t fix!

Needless to say, the cabinet is coming along!

Now that the main cabinet is completely assembled, you can see that the foam lip on the left side panel was set a few mm too low as compared to the opposite side.
