I started setting this tank up in May 2024 and every time I think about starting a thread, I feel like I need to do a full write up! And that puts me off, so I finally decided to just start a thread on the basis I can do a proper job later!

So here's a bad photo of the tank under blues and a random goni to start, and I promise I'll do better in future! 😋

That's funny I have a very similar issue. I feel the need to document the full set up and history of my aquariums but its incredibly daunting haha. I really should just post pictures as they are as well just to get started.

I love the goni garden by the way! I just picked up a new one myself recently and feel the urge to get it some friends haha.

I say do it! A thread is about the journey more than the start 🙂

I have a love/hate relationship with them! I have 4 or 5 that are struggling, but here are a few of the ones that are doing well...

One of these is an alveopora and a couple may be bernies.

I'm closing down my Cade nano tank this weekend and moving the contents to my main tank.

This is the stuff that's coming across
A7V00649_copy_4503x2534.jpg

The only stuff that's not moving over are the BTAs (PITA) and the GSP monster.

There's 5 fish in there too:
1. 2x naked clowns
2. Yellow headed jawfish
3. Flame scooter
4. Yasha goby (with pistol shrimp)

Plenty of space in the Red Sea so these will help fill it out a bit.

I'll post an update when it's done, in the meantime here are a few shots I took of corals currently in the Red Sea.

Wow those are some great looking Corals. What is the second coral picture that's currently in the red sea? A Wilson? It looks awesome!

Thanks man. Yep, I believe it's a symphyllia
I have never seen one that happy and full before. Always freshly imported or cut and more closed up. I need to hunt for one for myself after seeing how nice yours looks!

I got lucky with this one - haven't seen anything close to it before or since...

Bought a new kalkwasser stirrer recently - it's sold over here as Wavereef but it's the same as the Coral Vue one stateside.

Good bit of kit and half the price of my last stirrer (Deltec).
20251110_211847.jpg

Currently dosing around 5 litres of kalk per day - 3 litres overnight and 2 litres during the day just to stop the outlet tip crusting up.

That large barrel is DIY magnesium and I also have a bottle of calcium so I can make adjustments when things fall out of whack, which you can't do with kalk of course.

The tank is mostly going well but there are a few issues with corals. This goni (it's red but looks pink in the photo) has been retracted for a few weeks now and probably isn't long for this world. Hate gonis sometimes!

I vacuumed the sanded quickly tonight. Need to get into the habit of doing that. I do wonder if bare bottom would have been the way to go - maybe next time...

I've added a few acros recently that are doing surprisingly well given they get less than 200 PAR and low flow.

I also took a few bad phone photos during a water change this evening so here they are!
