Thank you means a lot coming from the veterans. I developed some zoa issues in the last week im trying to deal with. No such thing as a perfect tank. If it was easy everyone would be successful lol.
Your doing great! Even the most seasoned Reefers face challenges, without the challenges we don't learn and progress in the hobby! :)

Just finished reading your thread. Love your setup! Great aquascape. I really like all the zoas. That is going to be really amazing when they start to blanket the rock work. Sorry about the fish losses, the purple firefish I beautiful though. Man after reading that thread I really want to go get some zoas!

Maintenance day complete. So early this week I found a nudi by some zoas. Killed him. Been hunting for more all week as well as pox or spiders. I can't find anything. I know my system is too clean. I'm back on feeding roids since algae is all gone so hopefully that will help. Also didn't change my pads on Wednesday like normal. They were really dirty today. Salinity, temp, and flow are on point. I think the light mess up was a big issue. Perhaps certain zoas didn't handle it well. Overall I'm happy. Looks like pod population is growing not sure if it's from frags or algae barn. Scored the free pods from aquarium Depot on my order coming this week. I'm a fan of dipping corals now lol. Toadstool is back out so that's nice. Brittle stars are breeding. This will be my last coral order for a bit. Thanks for reading

May is the month of..... Pests.

So when I got back into the hobby and started researching again I was like why are all these people dipping corals? Why are some of these people so scared of pests?

I was at the point of well I just can't grow zoas when I saw a nudi. I was like really. Next couple of nights I find three more. I dipped what zoas I could and found a fire worm. Less than a week later my zoas are showing big improvement. So.. I lost about 30 polyps and learned a lesson. I guess I'll dip now lol.

New corals came in today. 3 shrooms 1 ric 3 zoas 1 paly. Tank is starting to look worthy.

Ummm a 20g tank sure does take a lot of money to fill lol

easy solution against pest....don't put any new livestock in the tank ;). problem solved!

besides dipping, at some point you may also like to consider:
  • only buy corals from vendor(s)/lfs you trust
  • wrasse and/or damsel - wrasse help keeps potential pets under control
as dipping is not a full proof solution against all pests from what i have experience.

Thank you. I may be near the end on livestock...coral. I've considered one more fish but I know I'm maxed out. I have no LFS period. All my stock has come from 2 places. A LFS that's 2 hours away and an online vendor. Guess I can't call it a LFS if it's 2 hours away lol. Weird that 15 years ago I got so lucky... IDK? I can't complain it always could be worse.

Maintenance completed. Easiest tank I've ever maintained. About 45 min a week. Tanks doing well I think I'm pest free for... Now lol. Considering a 4th fish...more for nutrients. Considering a couple of expensive shrooms...hard to man up lol.

Maintenance day complete. I survived 120 days. Nerite eggs everywhere. I may jump on the aqua SD sale here in a while. They have killer shrooms. I still can't master zoas. Some grow some don't some open all the way some don't. It's a challenge as they come from different environments and have different environments. May go to 2 days a week feedings. Had a rhodactis split this week by laceration that was cool. I still can't complain as I guess it could look worse. There just seems to always be something not perfect.
