RedSea ReefATO+ Pump . . . gets loud when level is low.... Ideas?

RedSea ReefATO+ Pump. . . gets loud when reservoir level is low.... Ideas? When the ATO level gets down to around the height of the pump it tends to get kind of noisy. It's probably an out of balance impeller etc but if the water level gets lower the pump will "wander" and eventually flip onto its side.

Any ideas on some type of "base" that will keep the pump from flipping over and maybe even help with the noise? I am eventually going to order a new pump and replace it but until then, anyone else come up with a way to stabilize and quieten this pump?

I'm thinking maybe a 3D printed "wide base" or getting some type of sponge and cut out a section to slip the pump down into????

Printed Reef has an ATO stand. I just noticed the same issue the other day and have been looking into it.

I am just using a 5g water container that I got from the LFS when I bought some water.

I got the printed shades for my LED50s from them and the quantity and fit is great.

Maybe the intake is too close to the water level and is sucking in air?
My pump sometimes falls over on its side too. I have never found that to be a problem, though and just leave it alone.

Agreed with above but also consider water as a sound insulator. When there's less water. It's less insulated.

I just noticed my noise is when the water is lower than the pump body and my reservoir is on carpet it is making a humming noise. I tilted the can and got more water in around the pump and it quieted down.

When it is full there is no noise hardly at all.

Well I took the plunge and got the ATO stand from Printed Reef. For $20 it’s a great deal and can’t be worse than I have now (nothing).

How did the ATO stand turn out? Did it help with the sound ANY?
