I have a 60" reef breeders light that is 6" above the water surface. I have mixed corals lps and soft corals.. does anyone have a program that would help me get closer to having sps.. ill be borrowing a par meter in the next few weeks.. I also plan to build a new canopy and the surface distance will change to around 12" or so.. any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Don't wait for the PAR meter.

Download a [HASHTAG]#lux[/HASHTAG] [HASHTAG]#meter[/HASHTAG] for your smartphone camera and take some readings now. :)

While the app is downloading go order a $15 handheld lux meter you can have at home for later - much better and safer to use around saltwater. ;)

(You can use the PAR meter to make an accurate conversion factor for your lux meter so you won't even need the PAR meter later. Not that you really need it now. ;))

Click those tags (or do a search on R2R for "lux meter") and check out lots of RECENT past threads.
