Reef Breeders Meridians

Anyone else get ahold of the new Reef Breeder Meridians ?

My first impression is that these lights are extremely well built! Reef Breeders definitely went above and beyond to top the design of the previous photons. I first started with some 24” fixtures and recently added an edge bar and a 63” fixture to the lineup. The light made the zoas over my grow out tank pop so much I decided to swap out my travel frag tank for a Meridian set-up.

I’ll try to get some par numbers shortly on my sps grow out but waiting on another 63” currently.

Shoutout to The Detroit Reef Club for stocking these fixtures!

Yep. I’ve had a couple 63 over one of my raceways since August 2023 I think and I love I’m just anxiously waiting to get more.

i'm looking to upgrade/renew my lights. i'm interested to see what kind of par you are getting

They were pretty comparable to the photons when at the same height when I first experimented with a par meter. I was told these were designed to be ran at a lower height with the stock lens but you can swap out to a more narrow or wider lense. The wattage is higher on these but they pump out some light. I’ll have them on my tank at Lear if you wanna check them out.

I was going to order the 5 ft version, but they had not been up mainstream beyond preorder yet. Looking forward to watching this thread,

I want to add them to supplement my halides.

How do you you like the bot mounts? Any upgrade from the ones for the photons? I have a set but the light always leaned forward just enough to be annoying.
Glad you posted about LEAR that reminded me I'm supposed to be going.

They sell them on their site now. I purchased both of my 5’ fixtures through Detroit reef club.

I’m running them along side some 250 watt halides as well with 14k aquabright bulbs.

They are nice! I never used the previous ones I can not compare them that way. The lights have a track with a plastic insert so it hides the cords so they can run down the back side of the tank.

They are pretty slick fixtures. The photons were a beast of a light with amazing spread. I like having the ability to change out the optics with the meridians as I plan to run most of mine pretty high up over my working tanks.

What does your photoperiod look like when you combined the fixtures. Or do you run the same cycle but simply added the LED fixture.

I'm debating running the 5ft in parallel with the halides along the tank versus adding 3x 24 inch fixtures spaced out over the short axis of the tank.

I currently have a whole mix of lights over my tank (halides, photons, meridians, and reefbrites). I run my halides for 6 hours peak in the middle of the day with various LEDs before/after and durning a 10 hour period.

I’m going to be changing over to the fauna Marin light balling method shortly so i will be adjusting my photoperiod with no ramp up of the lights. I’ll run the halides and meridians at peak (450-500 par) for 3 hours before dropping the LEDs down some to reach 350-400 par for another 3 hours. Then dropping off from 350 to zero par with the LEDs only.
