The stock optics are designed to be ran lower anyways so would work out perfect.
I would run a large fixture up high, suspended over nearly the front pane of glass on the tank and angled in to the tank. Would you keep the stock lenses or swap them?

I just put the 35 model over my new 40" 75 gallon SPS tank-to-be because it fits perfect and I was impressed with the Photons at my local store. I have not played with the light too much yet because my tank has just fish so far, but there are a couple issues.

Mainly the app isn't up to date. The only other LED fixture/ app I have experience with is the new Orphek Natura over my other tank. The ReefBreeder app is pre-historic compared to the Orphek. I spoke to Liam at ReefBreeders and he complained that " app development is so expensive" and said they were "working on it and please be patient". Then I read in another post on this forum that they are thinking about charging for the full use of their app, though I can't imagine any company would have the nerve to do that.

The other issue is the moonlight, it is way way too bright even at the minimum setting. Liam said they are aware of it and again "working on it". Timeliness unknown. Maybe we should all push a little.

This would not light the rear of the corals

Photon and Meridian are designs to go center tank and evenly light front to back, left to right. You can add the bars and angle in if you need

I added a bar for acros on front glass shelves

I just want slide bars for my channels and for it to display the total wattage . Then i know i can tweak my spectrum and still run the 90 watts or whatever my last fixture was at. I know there is a lot more to it , but hopefully they get it dialed in

I am hoping the app gets revised, but the Meridian still functions under the photon settings. The color of the channels does not match.

Nice tank. Thanks for the pics. My post was a bit misleading because 400 watt halides are the primary light over the center of my tank. The meridian would be purely an added light to supplement the metal halide. I also have light bars from quanta and Orphek.

This^^^ curious to know if and when they’ll be charging to use the app to control the light. I’m in the market for lights and honed in on a reefbreeders, but not if the fixture will be held ransom for monthly charges to control it.

Well that changes things and makes my post unnecessary haha
It would do great in the way you intended

I would imagine it costing more in other ways if competitors take up more of the market because the software does not match the premium price of hardware and people who've "invested" are held ransom. That's self sabotage. Considering cheaper blackbox lights now have moonlight sync too (and weather). They work; strong enough to bleach corals for sure.

For the premium $$, I'd expect great:
-Aesthetics/Shine, Material/Durability, Controllability/Ease
Assuming every other light can grow corals nowadays.

If subscription model comes to play, I'd see it as a cash-out rug pull & that'll be a sad day for many. Hope they stand on the years of great feedback on the Photons and continue the momentum (They're so close).

Nonetheless, thinking of pressing the check out button later on today. I do like the Photon underside look more, but this should be more cost effective while still looking sleek. Cheers to a great purchase.

No problem! It looks like @SpSDrew has it set up in the way I imagined, except with two fixtures outside the halides!! Nice. Let us know how you're liking it.

Yea, true. I like the photons better. They arguably cover more surface area because the leds are spread out more, and it looks like the meridians are more blue, a little less white. I have a 24” deep tank. The v2 pros still run on the app, no sure if they have the remote option, still checking

I would like to address this rumor as clearly as I can.

The app as it is right now- with full cloud based control- is, and will always be, free to use with our lights.

As far as premium features go- that's for new and advanced features only, like bluetooth control, intelligent acclimation, etc.

In addition you can own those features outright with a lifetime license.

We're a small business that made a big investment and put a lot on the line to introduce new features that we think our users will love. If you don't feel that the new premium features are worth it for you, you don't have to use them. We have a fully functional and easy to use free version, and that will never change.

Our app is already one of the best and easiest to use in the industry- and we will continue to improve and maintain the base features already included with our app at no additional cost to you.

I don't know. It was something I read in another post. I can't imagine anyone is dumb enough to try it.

The second 63” arrived today and I’ll do some par testing this coming weekend.

Shout out to @DetroitReefClub for stocking the meridians!

I recommend trying out the focus optics with this setup.

I may be going that route! I’m going to do some par and spread testing this weekend to see where I may need more or less.

So far really digging the lights!

Beautiful tank! Love to hear you’re enjoying them. If you’re on IOS check out the new update.

Reef Breeders, an update on IOS? What about Android? And what's the update?

When are you going to fix the moonlight? It's ridiculously bright. A Dashboard to see intensity levels at any point in time would be a good feature too. Your app is really lacking compared to the Orphek for example.

The update is coming on Android soon. There was a couple little things we had to address with the iOS update so we delayed the Android push till it’s perfect so you just have to do 1 update. iOS is going to have another update soon probably within a week.
