Prior to owning an Apex system, I set up my Reef Breeder's Photon V2 on the Nexus integration. The Nexus app is light years better than the remote. My question is, if I upgrade to the Apex integration VDM, will I see any additional benefits/features over the Nexus setup?

Thanks in advance.

I'd stick with the Nexus app- the Apex is a great controller, but the VDM kit relies on the 0-10v ports. That means extra wires, extra programming, calibration, etc.

But are there any additional features or functionality changes to the light?
With the VDM? Not really anything additional beyond adding it to the apex for control. The Reef Nexus app handles everything and has more features as well- like saving and sharing schedules and quick manual over-rides with color sliders.
