I am trying to replace my 10+ year old Theiling Fleece Roller, and this one has been on the radar as I'm seeing an open box one for sale on BRS.

I know the discount is because of Reef Factory going under, but I don't really need the cloud functionality on a fleece roller.

Can anyone with the roller tell me if it runs well without the need of the app?

And whether or not the filter has been running well for you?

I have the reef factory roller not connected to the App since my 2.4 signal is weak in the basement. I have it working off the float sensor to advance the roller. You will need to play with the water level so it wont advance the entire roll.

Yes it works without the app. I have one and have never been able to get the app to send a verification code for setting it up. I was searching online for help and came across this post. I was not aware that the company was going under. This probably accounts for why I was having a hard time finding the M sized fleece for it.

since you guys have these rollers, could you tell me where I could find a replacement float switch? I lifted up on the existing one, and it doesn't advance the roller. I push the button on the motor and it works, so I know the motor works, but my float must be bad. Can I use any Bulk Reef Supply float switch??

Any float switch should work. You will just need to figure out how to mount it and wire it to the port. I don’t think reef factory is completely gone. Have you’ve tried contacting them? They might still offer parts.

yep, the've actually been really good at correspondence with me. They are sending me a 3d printer file to print a new part that I need for my roller, and they also got me logged into the App as well. I still need to connect my roller to the App, but will mess with that tonight.

They no longer offer any actual parts they said here in the U.S. but if it's a plastic part, they can send printer files. I figured the float switch really could be ANY one that other rollers use, and I'll probably just cut the wire on the OEM one and solder in a new one and heat shrink it. I haven't looked yet to see if I can get into the motor housing to actually see if I could wire a new float switch into that.

Also..HOW THE HECK do you get some of these nylon screws in? It's like the holes are so poorly threaded, they just don't catch. I did manage to get everything installed with the exception of the plumbing Elbow on the side of the roller, it's such a tight space, and the nylon screws just DON'T thread in well at all.

Hey folks. A bit off topic, but I just picked up a reef factory smart roller L. Yes I know the company is now defunct, but price was right. After several agonizing days of trying to install the app and get the roller to connect, I had success! Set up was pretty easy after that. Now here's my problem. I wanted to test the roller function. So I've been actuating the float switch manually to start the motor ( no fleece attached yet) and it runs successfully and stops, but then I get a notification in the App that the "roll has been blocked" and to free the block and restart. But there is no block or jam or anything. There is literally no roll attached yet. Have any of you seen this and what is the fix??

Thanks

Howdy, I’m in the same predicament.

I do have a roll attached and every now and then roller jammed. Turns out the metal motor shaft has rounded out the roller see pic. Any chance you have an stl file to print that center piece?

Is it just glued in there? Thanks!

I'm having the same issue. Roller is jammed and that piece is worn down. Any luck with the printed piece?
